
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Rome, Italy is pleased to announce the launch a Point of Sale (POS) payment acceptance facility with effect from Friday, 2nd January 2026.
With the introduction of the POS facility, members of the public are now able to make fast, secure and cashless payments for consular services over the counter at the Embassy. Payments can be made using Bancomat, debit cards, and credit cards, including both EU and non-EU cards.
To mark the launch, Ambassador Satya Rodrigo operated the POS machine and issued the first card payment receipt to Ms. Hiruni Yasoda, the first customer of the year, from Siena, Tuscany.
The introduction of the POS payment facility forms part of the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to modernise consular services and enhance convenience, efficiency and transparency for the Sri Lankan community and other service recipients.
