As per the budget proposal 2021, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has introduced an incentive scheme that provides additional incentive on top of the normal exchange rate for foreign exchange remittances sent by migrant workers through licensed banks registered under the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

As per the scheme, foreign currency income earned through an employment by a Sri Lankan national who is working or has worked abroad qualify to receive additional Rs 2 per US Dollar remitted and converted to Rupees through the formal channels/licensed banks.
