Taking into account the maximum safety of the public who visit the Embassy for consular services, the Mission intends to provide consular services to the public with due respect to the health regulations imposed by the local health authorities to contain the existing deadly COVID 19 outbreak in Italy.

Accordingly, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Rome will be providing consular services to the Sri Lankan expatriates in Italy following a special procedure, which aims to minimize the public gathering at the Embassy while providing consular and related services efficiently to the public within a minimum period of time.

Under the new procedure, all consular related requests should be made to the Embassy for prior review, and after scrutinizing each application by the Embassy, the applicant will be granted an appointment to visit the Embassy for collecting/submitting documents.

All applicants who have submitted completed application forms and connected documents to the Embassy for prior review, will be granted an appointment to visit the Embassy with originals at a date and time decided by the Embassy, after 20th May 2020, taking into consideration the prevailing condition relevant to the COVID 19 virus outbreak in Italy Procedure in submission of applications/requests for Consular
Services:

Step 1:

Applicants who wish to obtain consular services from the Embassy in Rome are requested to refer the website of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Italy and obtain relevant application forms and instructions on the services: https://www.srilankaembassyrome.org.

Step 2:

Duly filled application along with original documents should be scanned clearly and send to the official email with contact number:
slemb.rome@mfa.gov.lk. Each applicant has to send only one email for the particular task/tasks and will be personally contacted by the Embassy on the status of application, if necessary.

Step 3:

Appointment for the applicant will be given on a specific day with a time by the Embassy and the applicant should bring all original documents and its photocopies along with duly filled application with them when visiting the Embassy. After checking the original documents, relevant fees will be charged and the receipt will be issued. Only the applicant will be allowed to enter the Embassy premise.
If the applicant fails to provide one or more of the relevant original documents, during the visit to Embassy, he/she will have to obtain a fresh appointment and come back with the missing documents.
Applicants are requested to be punctual for the appointment at the Embassy in order to avoid unwanted delays and inconvenience that would cause to other applicants and the staff

As additional health precautions, all visitors to the Embassy are required to follow the under mentioned health protocols as required by the Italian health authorities in order to contain the spread of the virus among the public:

  • Wear hand gloves and facemask.

  • Maintain one-meter social distance.

  • Keep your hand washed at the entrance.

  • All visitors will be checked for body temperature at the gate.

Please note that, as already indicated, the objective of applying the above procedure is to, provide a maximum service to the Sri Lankan community, the most effective and productive manner, while minimizing the congestion, for the maximum safety of the public, in the challenging environment of the existing COVID 19 pandemic situation, while adhering to the rules and regulations of the government of Italy and the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka.
